Now that my return to the Big Smoke is imminent – in between writing this I’m packing boxes, cleaning out cupboards and trying, and failing miserably, to clean the front windows (WHAT is the secret?) – I thought I would share some photos of a few of my favourite coastal views, things and places. So sit back and take a little tour with me:

I have a collection of stones at home, but in the interests of de-cluttering, left this one on the beach.

Anglesea River – a very different vibe from the beach
Life by the river was very tranquil until Bertie noticed there were ducks in the water…
Leafy glades, butterflies, birdsong, dappled sun and trees bring fairy tales to mind.
Anglesea General Store – I recommend their breakfasts, ginger and lemon hot toddy and take-home meals such as slow-cooked beef cheeks. Yum!

Not quite Vidal Sassoon but they rescued my hair from a previous hatchet job!
My love affair with op shops continues. Here I found books, an Arzberg bon-bon dish, a drape for my sofa and an ovenware dish for Shepherd’s pie, my menu du jour when I had visitors.

I can see why you have settled in so well to country life! I would kill for that tranquility, fresh air, the early morning walks followed by a cuppa at the General Store etc etc. Sigh.

I know, I’ve bee so lucky to have spent ten weeks here. It’s been an enriching experience in so many ways. And I know where to come when I need to relax and let off steam! Hope to see you soon. Will bring soothing coastal vibes!

Good luck in your transition to your new old home, Lots. My ideal would be to have a bit of city and a bit of country or the sea – probably the sea would be my favourite, although the swallows in the fields outside our kitchen at the moment are truly wonderful and I wouldn’t have them by the sea. One flew into our kitchen the other day and I had to rescue it from the threat of Percy as it was flapping hysterically against the windows. Holding a swallow. Not something I shall ever forget. I threw it into the sky.

I agree about having a healthy blend of both town and country. Have put my hand up to do house sits in Anglesea so I can have regular escapes and slow down! Chaos back here and don’t know where to start. Also, my budget painter is just that so may have to get someone else in which will delay me putting the house back together. Anyway, trying to enjoy the adventure and journey!! Well done for rescuing the swallow – we have welcome swallows all year here – from ending up in Percy’s jaws!! xx
